Benefits & Compensation Advice
If you have been given a diagnosis of mesothelioma there are government benefits and lump sum compensation that you may be entitled to. Many of these benefits are not means-tested, so it doesn’t matter how much income and/or savings you currently have – you will still be eligible.
Please don’t be put off if you have not claimed benefits before; Sarah is here to help explain what you will be entitled to and complete the application forms on your behalf.
Sarah has provided one to one welfare benefits advice for mesothelioma patients in the North East since 2019, assisting more than 300 patients to access over £6.5 million in payments. This advice service is free and provided by Mesothelioma UK, in partnership with READLEY. Sarah takes cases from across North East England, from Northumberland down to Middlesborough. This includes anyone with a mesothelioma diagnosis, their family members or carers.

Legal
If you have been diagnosed with mesothelioma, it is likely that you will be able to claim compensation. You will need expert legal advice from a solicitor who is a specialist in mesothelioma claims. Not all solicitors, even those that work in personal injury, are specialists in mesothelioma claims.
A specialist mesothelioma solicitor will help you get the right amount of compensation without charging you for the work that they do so that you get 100% of what you are entitled to.
You may know how your asbestos exposure occurred, but frequently people don’t recall how and where they were exposed to asbestos. It may not have been you who handled or disturbed the asbestos you were exposed to, but you may have been nearby when someone else did.
A specialist solicitor will see you at home or in the hospital and go through your work history. Using their specialist knowledge of the products and processes and their experience of other similar cases, they will try to help you identify where and how you may have been exposed to asbestos dust.
